Out past Sanger the ground starts to rise, and the light changes with it. Reedley and Orange Cove sit against the first of the foothills in citrus country, which means long unobstructed afternoons, very little natural shade on the newer lots, and rooms that are pleasant until about two and unusable by four.
The housing is a genuine mix. There are farmhouses that have been added to for eighty years, post-war stock in the town centres, and newer builds on the edges with modern glass. One street will need everything cut to size and the next will be straightforward.

What the foothill edge does differently
A west room in Reedley behaves differently from the same room in central Fresno. There is less built environment to break the light, the lots are more open, and older farm properties often have big single-pane windows on the side that catches the most sun, because nobody was thinking about cooling loads when they were put in.
That is why we lead with solar fabric and exterior mesh out here rather than with a heavier interior blind. Stopping radiant heat before the glass is worth more than any amount of fabric behind it, and on a working farmhouse it also cuts the glare that makes a kitchen unusable at the end of the day.

Do you actually come out to Orange Cove?
Yes, on grouped east-county days rather than on demand. Booking a few days ahead gets you a much better slot than calling at nine hoping for that afternoon, and there is no trip charge either way.
What is the difference between solar screens and solar shades?
Solar screens go on the outside and stop heat before it touches the glass. Solar shades are interior fabric and control glare and light once it is already through. Out here the exterior option does more of the heavy lifting, and plenty of houses end up with both on the worst elevation.
Can you do a whole farmhouse in one go?
The measuring, yes, including the awkward originals. We quote the lot together and install once everything is built. Whole-house works out cheaper per window than room by room.
