What cellular shades cost in Fresno, and what they save

Getting the specification right for a Valley summer
Single cell vs double cell
Single cell is enough for a north-facing or shaded window. Double cell is the one to put on the glass that takes direct afternoon sun, where the extra air pocket does real work. Mixing the two through a house is normal and sensible.
Blackout is not the same as room-darkening
Room-darkening fabric knocks the light back. Blackout fabric plus an outside mount is what actually gets a bedroom dark, because most of the light people complain about comes around the edges rather than through the shade.
Top-down, bottom-up
Lets you drop the top for daylight while the bottom stays closed. On a front-facing window near a sidewalk it is the difference between privacy and living with the shades shut.
