Blackout & glare control
Roller Shades in Fresno, CA
Measured, built and installed by our own crew · quoted in person, not online
One clean panel, two very different jobs. Blackout roller fabrics are the darkest thing we sell: the answer for shift workers, nurseries, and anyone whose bedroom faces a streetlight. Solar screen fabrics do the opposite trick: they kill Fresno’s afternoon glare and a large share of the heat while keeping your view of the yard.
Rollers are also the minimalist’s pick, nearly invisible rolled up and with no slats to dust, and the natural base for motorization if you want the TV-room shades on a schedule.
We take the measurements and hang them ourselves. The fit is our problem, not yours.

Why Fresno homes pick roller shades
True blackout fabrics
Room-darkening to full blackout. Pair with an outside mount to close the light gaps.
Solar screen fabrics
Cut glare and solar heat without losing the view, built for west-facing Valley rooms.
Cleanest look in the catalog
A few inches of fabric at the headrail when open. That’s it.
Motor-ready
The same shade upgrades to app, remote and voice control any time.
What roller and solar shades cost in Fresno
The price of a roller shade depends far more on the fabric than on the mechanism, and the fabric decision is really one question: do you want to keep the view, or kill the light? We quote it per opening once we have seen the windows.
Solar fabric keeps the view and cuts glare and heat. Blackout fabric gives you a dark room and no view at all. Plenty of Fresno houses end up with both: solar in the living room, blackout in the bedrooms.
What moves the price
- ·Fabric type: solar, light-filtering or blackout
- ·Openness factor on solar fabrics: 1%, 3%, 5% or 10%
- ·A cassette or fabric-wrapped valance to hide the roll
- ·Width, and whether you motorise it
Choosing an openness factor
1% and 3% for glare control
The tightest weaves. Best on a west window where the afternoon sun is genuinely painful and you still want to see out. The lower the number, the less you see through it and the more heat it stops.
5% and 10% for view first
More open weave, more view, less glare control. Good on a north-facing window or anywhere you are managing brightness rather than fighting it. At 10% you keep most of the outlook.
Blackout for sleep
No view, no light through the fabric. Size it as an outside mount so it overlaps the frame, otherwise light comes down the sides and undoes the whole point. Worth pairing with a cassette to close the gap at the top.
Roller Shades questions, answered straight
What actually makes a room fully dark?
A blackout fabric plus an outside mount that overlaps the frame. Inside mounts always leave a small light gap at the edges, and we will flag it when we come out to measure if your room needs true dark.
Do solar shades still let me see outside?
Yes, that is the point. The weave cuts glare and heat while keeping the view; tighter weaves are more private, more open weaves are clearer.
Can these cover a patio slider?
Wide rollers handle sliders well, and motorized is worth it at that size. For very wide spans, request the designer estimate and we will engineer it properly.
Which is better for a west-facing room?
Solar fabric at 1% or 3% if you want the view; blackout if the room is for sleeping. Cellular beats both on pure insulation, so if the goal is the cooling bill rather than the glare, look there first.
What is a cassette and do I need one?
A slim housing that hides the roll and closes the light gap at the top. It is optional on a light-filtering shade and genuinely worth it on a blackout one.
Can these be motorised?
Yes. Roller is the easiest product we make to motorise, and grouping a row of them onto one schedule is straightforward.
